OUR ORGANISATION
ASHIHARA KARATE LONDON (AKL) is an official representative of New International Karate Organization (NIKO), the international governing body for Ashihara Karate.
It is a licensed provider for Ashihara Karate instruction in the country and is dedicated to promoting the Ashihara system in a manner that is authentic, progressive and at its highest standard of practice.
Being part of a NIKO-accredited branch allows our participants with:
> An international membership with NIKO > An internationally-recognized certificate of progression in Ashihara Karate
> Access to local and international events in the NIKO calendar (tournaments, camps, workshops/ seminars, exchanges)
> Access to 160 training centres in Japan and 170 locations in other parts of the world Most importantly, it assures participants of a quality and up-to-date curriculum, given AKUK’s annual engagement in training refreshers at the NIKO headquarters in Ehime, Japan.
With AKL, Ashihara Karate is conveyed as a non-competitive martial art, focusing on the cultivation of effective self-defence skills and continued personal development. With the Ashihara system at its core, we ongoingly explore into and develop upon these themes.
At the same time, we provide avenues for participants to experience other dimensions of karate practice that includes tournaments, seminars/ workshops, educational excursions and camps, among others.
